West Virginia Day (June 20, 2023)

West Virginia Day is a state holiday celebrated every year on June 20 in the state of West Virginia. The day was established when President Lincoln proclaimed that West Virginia would officially be recognized as a state on June 20, 1863.

Monday, June 20 of this year will celebrate the state's 159th anniversary. Governor of West Virginia, Jim Justice, is inviting all West Virginians to the State Culture Center at the Capitol Complex on this day. Many celebrations and festivities will take place starting at noon. For those unable to attend, the ceremonies will be live-streamed online.
